Crimson™ Caprese Sliders

The Crimson tomatoes are currently in season in the south, which means tomato recipes all around. We love using fresh ingredients like tomato and basil in simple, game day finger foods. These caprese sliders have a great balance of flavors while being super quick and easy to whip up.

Our Crimson tomato varieties are grown under the sun and have great skin, making them perfect slicing tomatoes. They’re also grown to be red right through for that desired juiciness and freshness.

The Crimson Caprese Sliders

Yields: 12 sandwiches  |   Prep Time: 5 minutes   |   Cook Time: 5 minutes

The Crimson 3-count round tomatoes
1 package of 12 Hawaiian buns
Fresh Basil (appx. 12 leaves, plus more for topping)
1 ball of fresh mozzarella
Balsamic Glaze
2 Tbs butter (melted)
Garlic powder or 1 clove of fresh garlic

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Slice full package of Hawaiian buns in half horizontally. Place the bottom half of buns on a prepared baking sheet. Layer the bottom half of the buns with a basil leaf, a slice of mozzarella, a slice of tomato, and balsamic drizzle, then place the top half of the buns back.

Roughly chop your additional fresh basil and combine with melted butter and garlic. Brush the butter mix on top of your buns, and place the baking sheet in the oven for 6-8 minutes, until the buns are nicely toasted and mozzarella is slightly melted. Enjoy!
