Processing Manager - Fresh Produce Industry

This position is responsible for managing all aspects of our fresh cut operation. You will manage a team consisting of employees from the following areas; mechanical, quality assurance, food safety, and general laborers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all pieces of equipment are operating at full efficiency
  • Implement modifications to increase throughput and lower costs
  • Plan, Schedule, and coordinate manufacturing activities to fulfill orders
  • Monitors and report key performance indicators and provides regular feedback to operators and supervisors
  • Establish and monitor overall processing performance for production and quality standards and document accordingly
  • Control labor, maintenance, packaging, supplies, and other operational costs
  • Maintain existing processing equipment, implement preventative maintenance plan
  • Provide leadership and training to ensure world class Food Safety
  • Ensure that all personnel working under your supervision are adhering to Lipman’s Food Safety Guidelines
  • Enforce SOP’s and SSOP’s
  • Work with Food Safety manager daily
  • Provide leadership and training to ensure a safe working environment for all employees
  • Responsible for staff management and development including assigning and directing work, appraising performance, hiring, training and retention, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems
  • Familiarity with industry prices and marketing practices
  • Assist accounting department to resolve problems
  • Ensure the commodities are in compliance with all regulations and complete all reports that are required
  • Communicate with operations inventory and forecasting for product movement


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial engineering / Human Resources & Business Administration a plus
  • 4+ years of experience in produce/agriculture industry and/or Engineering
  • Must have 1+ year in the fresh-cut produce industry
  • Bi-lingual-Spanish / English a plus
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering-specific journals and mechanical drawings
  • Experience using FiX software to maintain manufacturing equipment
  • Must possess strong business acumen, encompassing the ability to see the “Big Picture” within a complex, multi-faced organization, and initiate change management with client groups
  • Must exhibit proactive qualities, be self-directed, and have experience in facilitating meetings by utilizing effective presentation skills
  • Must have the ability to make recommendation to effective resolve problems or issues, by using judgement that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
  • Proficient computer skills in the areas of e-mail, Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, etc.) - required
  • Proficient using FiX software to maintain manufacturing equipment
  • Proficient using Famous Software
  • Six Sigma certified
  • Proven leadership skills in leading, managing, and directing a team
  • Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job
  • Fast paced, high volume, detail oriented work environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually extreme.
  • Requires extensive use of hands
  • Work hours: Monday-Friday, 6:00AM - 3:00PM
  • Some duties will require work after hours
